Self study, whee.

There has been a CLASH!

Between Maths and Computing.  So it seems that I’m going to have to learn Maths on my own.  Well, stats anyway.  I’ll be doing Pure Maths with the Maths-with-mechanics class for 2 lessons a week, and in the lesson that they’d be doing Mechanics I’ll be self-learning Stats.  That’s going to be…

…fun? *groans*

IN OTHER NEWS!  Big Brother finished, to my immense chagrin.  (Ooh, get me with the long words which I’ve probably used wrong).  Brian won, as I knew he would.  Ziggy came higher than I expected (Note the difference between ‘hoped’ and ‘expected’) though, coming 4th.

Jonte, Carole, Ziggy, Liam, Samanda, Brian.

Now I have absolutely nothing to watch, and must be driven mad by grandma watching nature shows on full volume while falling asleep and snoring loudly.   Urgh.

Bring on BB9!

IN OTHER NEWS!  I may be joining a gym.  More information on that as and when it arrives.

IN OTHER NEWS, there is no other news. (Paradox!)

HA-HAR!

God I love programming.

There is, in my mind, absolutely NOTHING that can POSSIBLY beat the thrill of spending a whole night working on something unsuccessfully, suddenly to find that you’ve done it.  All on your own.  Sure, the debugging step is rather random, and the reason that you couldn’t get it in the first place was a functions file that you wrote two years ago that was so badly annotated that it was impossible to follow, but I FEEL SO GOOD NOW.

Yes, this has woken me up.  THIS, right here, right now, is the reason that I want to do Computing.  My spark has been awoken again, and I am determined.

This has been a good night.  Such a very good night.

(Speaking of which, I hate SQL.)

Live final of Big Brother in about 14 hours.  Ziggy to win, even though he so clearly won’t.  It’ll be close between Brian and Samanda. (You can always tell the people that watch Big Brother’s Little Brother by their use of the word ‘Samanda’.)   What else?  Not much. School starts next Friday, with induction on Wednesday.  That’s about all.

WOOP!

Nominations: YOU’RE DOING IT WRONG

Argh.  Why are the housemates so bad at nominating?

Tomorrow, one of Carole, Jonathan, or Seány will be evicted from the Big Brother house.

Carole, the only person that’s actually organising them and making sure they don’t starve, doing most of the cooking and all of the washing, probably doing the most for the house out of all that are in there.
Jonathan I agree with, okay.  He’s only just got into the house, but already he’s come across as arrogant and controlling.  I want him to go.
Seány!  They can’t get rid of Seány!  I hated him when he first went him, and now he just started being my favourite, he gets nominated.  D:

Of those, I want Jonathan to go, and because of his “I just came here to win I -AM- going to win ha ha ha!” attitude, I think he’ll probably be the public’s choice as well.  I predicted right with Shabnam, I’m going for a 100% record here.

Of course, I want Charley and/or Nikki to go, because they are really so annoying.  (Along with Chanelle because she’s a moaner and Liam because he’s been in the house for what, 6 days now, and doesn’t appear to have actually said a single word). But still, I’m sure the housemates know better (*grumbles*).

I have been to see the [a?] vice principle about my options for A2 subjects next year.  I must choose from Maths, Further Maths, Computing, Physics, Electronics.  Maths and Further Maths must surely be a must, given that I want to go to a university, and need those at least.  Further Maths is a very sought-after A-level, I have been led to be led.  Only 4 people are doing it at my college, anyway [6 at AS, and 2 are dropping it].  The vice principal called up Imperial and Manchester’s admissions people, and asked what I should be doing.  Imperial answered with Maths, Further Maths, and Physics [and said to not carry on with Computing o_O], and Manchester said Maths, Further Maths, Computing.

So it seems that my two feasible options are:-

Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Computing

Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Computing, Electronics.

Nngh.  It’s a tough one.  I would like to do all 5, if only to prove that I can [which is probably the case].  To prove to myself that I’m over my “U, B, E” days. I think that I can do it. But everyone, with the exception of my Computing teacher, is trying to talk me out of it.  It’s all very demoralising. The sensible thing would be to listen to them, but I think that even by considering doing all 5 is showing stubborn-ness.  I really really want to do all 5, or at the very least attempt to do all 5, for a few months, and if I can’t deal with it, say “well, I tried” and drop Electronics.

I know that if the subjects at A2 are anything near as easy as they are at AS, I won’t be able to cope with doing 4.  This year has been so hard, having so many free periods and nothing to do in them, just sitting in a quiet corner, staring at the floor.  I don’t want to do that, I’d rather learn.  It was so bad through most of the AS year that I was seriously considering quitting through boredom.  I just had *NOTHING TO DO*.

So that’s where I stand.  I’m going to:-

1) Try all 5 subjects for a couple of months, or however long I can last.  If I feel I can’t cope with 5, I drop Electronics with great sadness.
2) Retake in January any exams I don’t get an A on.

I hope that ignoring everyone that clearly knows more than me will help me get ahead in life.

Exam report, picspam, and other such fascinating topics of discussion

I have had a Physics Exam.  It was very tasty.

Really, it was.  SOOOOO RIDICULOUSLY EASY.  It was hardly worth my time revising, I was very annoyed.  Perhaps it is due to the fact that I was revising from the 2001-2003 papers mostly, which were in my opinion much harder for covering the same general syllabus.  Exams have been made easier, I will agree, but I think that the pressure placed on people doing exams more than over-rules that easiness.

Still, I think there’s a very strong probability that I have obtained full marks; at least for one of them.  Somewhere in the region of 95-100% was my estimate from adding up the marks that I had almost *DEFINITELY* got (Which is more than I can say for the Electronics and Computing exams, which I obtained hardly 70% from the same technique).

STOP.  It’s picspam time.

Today’s picspam features pictures of me at my 18th birthday party. Most people have friends, loud music, all-night raving, alcohol… I had.. uh…

…Yeah.

This was me BEFORE the party:-

You can sense the enthusiasm, can’t you.  My face is awash with excitement, looking yay forward to the events to come.

This is my AFTER the party:-

…Yeah.

It is.

MOVING ON, PICTURE 3! The CAKE!

It’s a TARDIS!  *squee*.  Yeah, I just *squee*d over a children’s Doctor Who decorated cake.  Deal with it.

This, by the way, was my piece.  I ate David Tennant’s head.

Oh the yum.

And of course, what picspam would be complete without invading other people’s privacy by posting pictures of them on the internet without their permission?

These are the Cousins.  Behaving as they do anywhere they go. (I really have to pass these photos through some kind of red eye filter, don’t I?).  Oh, Alexander on the left, Madison on the right.

And the final picture, yay for group pictures.

From left to right…

Grandpa, Grandma, Alexander’s arm, Me, Madison, Alison, Mark, Zimbabwe [Or 'Steve' to his friends, apparently.  Dad.]

And uh yeah.  That was a great.. fun filled… eh…. Yeah.

Next topic Please!

I’ve been watching Big Brother this season, and have grown steadily hooked to it.  It’s something to watch, anyway.  They added two new housemates on Friday; a bisexual Greek guy, and.. a gay Irish guy.

I don’t like either of them.  The Greek guy is a bit too camp & flirtatious, and the Irish guy isn’t camp enough. There’s clear hatred between them (Certainly the Irish guy doesn’t like the Greek guy anyway).

Recently, Big Brother forcibly evicted Emily for saying the word “Nigger” in a joking context.  I’m not going to criticise Big Brother’s decision (Which, by the way, I feel was wrong), but I am going to criticise people outside the house who have recently been complaining that “Omg all we’ve ever seen on the last few days is all about Emily”, as if the ONLY thing on Big Brother has been about Emily.  Which is rubbish.  When they went into the house, the same clip was shown for almost a whole WEEK in every episode and nobody complained.  When they were nominated, they showed the clip of the nominations for at least 2-3 days after constantly.  And they complain that C4 is showing too much of the racism issue because it’s just been on ONE episode.  Fair enough, it was the only topic covered in that episode, but this is because it was the only topic to cover.

The point is, this is something BIG that has happened in Big Brother.  Somebody has been forcibly evicted.  And this is somebody being evicted, thus it is an important event that warrants it’s own episode.

Just because it’s racist, it seems to feel to people like it’s been going on forever.  It’s not.  And saying that it’s the only thing that BB’s been talking about, less than one day after the episode has aired, is completely rargh.

Grumbles.  I’m getting easy to anger in my Random Rants.

So, what else to talk about.. Oh, Achievements Unlocked!
